How to Apply to College
3If you're currently in secondary V, rest assured that the counselling team at LSA will guide you through the entire process. Even though the online application systems for college open as early as the middle of January, there is no rush to apply. Colleges do not operate on a first-come-first-served basis. Just meet the deadline of equal consideration--March 1st, 2023.
Moreover, if you are thinking of applying to a highly competitive program, it makes more sense to wait until you have your first term report card. Some programs have very specific minimum grade requirements for particular courses, or overall average requirements (secondary IV and V grades combined).
You may, and we recommend that you apply to more than one college so as to maximize your chances of getting accepted. Keep in mind that Vanier, John Abbott, and the francophone colleges of Greater Montreal are all on one application system (ie. SRAM), so you could only make one selection from these same. Dawson, Marianopolis, Champlain St-Lambert, all have their own application systems, so you could apply to them individually as you see fit.
Please consult with your guidance counsellor who could assist you in your career exploration, program selections, and application strategies.
